    At American Airlines Center, we value our employees and what they bring to the company, but more importantly to the guest experience. We are seeking a Accounting/Finance College intern to join our winning team.  The goal of the internship is to develop the knowledge and experience necessary for an intern to obtain a paid Entry-Level Accounting position following graduation.  The internship is a 12-15 week program in which the intern will apply their knowledge to hands-on learning opportunities related to our industry under the supervision of the Senior Accounting Manager. The intern will be introduced to other key business units throughout the organization to help them gain a better understanding of the financials being accounted and to learn how to maintain open lines of communication between departments. Lastly, the intern will yield results from a variety of reports and integrates the information into related journal entries, logs or sub-ledgers.

    Responsibilities

    • Assists in the daily/weekly/monthly financial reporting relating to cash, tickets, food & beverage, and parking from events held at American Airlines Center;
    • Inputs end-of-month journal entries into the general ledger;
    • Maintains financial records for a number of expense tracking spreadsheets;
    • Verifies depreciation and fixed assets and the schedules related to them;
    • Proposes new strategies or process improvements that will assist the department related to its efficiency;
    • Handles a wide variety of clerical functions from making copies, filing and preparing documents for reports;
    • Assists with ad hoc projects and audits;
    • Other duties as assigned

    Education / Qualifications

    Intern must be a student in their junior or senior year at an accredited college or university.  Prefer cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher with 1+ years of prior work experience preferred (part-time employment and previous internships of any type may be included).                  

     

    To perform this internship successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate Arena Operating Company’s Core Values of Integrity, Teamwork, Passion and Excellence.  The Intern should also have the following qualifications:  

    • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or any other concentrations related to Business Administration. 
    • Internship must qualify for academic credit through student’s college or university
    • Student must be eligible to work in the United States (no Visa sponsorships)
    • Should be able to work a minimum of 20 hours a week
    • Must be able to provide 2 character references  (not from family or friends)
    • Must be able to pass background check and drug screen upon selection

    Other Skills and Abilities

    • Proficient computer skills (MS Excel (intermediate level preferred), Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.)
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail,
    • Strong interest and passion for Accounting – willingness to learn,
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
    • Excellent problem-solving skills,
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects of the position,
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in supervised meetings to employees and other members of the organization.

    Physical Demands

    Ability to regularly stand, sit, walk, talk, hear, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, kneel, crouch, bend, and climb stairs; ability to lift and/or handle up to 20 pounds unassisted.

     

    Work Environment

    The noise level in offices is usually low to moderate; however, the noise level may be loud during events.
